Bridge B0702 Old York Road over
Tributary to Holland Brook
This project replaced a steel stringer bridge built in 1939 with a rigid frame structure. The frame is a three sided precast culvert set on cast-in-place footings. Unlike the other structures of this type that I have worked on, three of the wingwalls, including the footings, were precast. The fourth was cast-in-place because an existing sanitary sewer force main was too close to allow a precast unit to be safely installed. Since the finished bridge is paved over, the only parts that are visible from the road are the parapets.
